Let’s chat for a minute about different types of posing when it comes to newborn photography. There are two main type of newborn photography sessions you can look for. One being a lifestyle session and the other is posed newborn photography. It’s important to decide which style of newborn photography you are wanting and to find a photographer that fits your needs.

Types of Newborn Photography

Lifestyle photography typically takes place in your home. There are newborn photographers that have a dedicated lifestyle room in their studio. It replicates the feel of your home verse a studio. The typical lifestyle newborn photographer comes to your home and takes pictures of your newborn baby while you are holding them, in their crib, and other natural settings. This is a great way to capture those sweet moments that you have your in home with your newborn.

Posed newborn photography is what I do. You come to my studio after we have planned out your session. Your newborn is photographed in props and on different fabric backdrops with poses. As a newborn photographer I try to incorporate some natural poses as well. For this session we did a combination of sibling images, props, posed, and more natural poses. It really was the perfect combination and gave mom and dad a great variety to choose from.
