Boise One Year Photos | Woodland Cake Smash

One year photos are some of my favorite sessions. Newborn photos are so special. It’s such a short time period and goes so quickly. One year photos are amazing because their little personalities are so fun.

I wanted to write a post giving some information on things that I am seeing during my one year photos are so sessions. Some of the things are new and I have a few ideas of why things are changing. Others are things that I have seen for most of the time of doing one year photos.

Boise One Year Photos | Issues with Cake

One new thing that I am seeing with almost every one year session is an issue with cakes with a lot of sugary frosting. I think parents now are not giving their babies sugar at all or very little. I am totally in support of this! I am finding that babies won’t eat the frosting and some are gagging and throwing up.

How to work around this while getting those darling one year photos you are wanting. My number one suggestion would get ask the bakery to add as little frosting as possible to the cake. You can also ask for whip cream in place of frosting. These options give a more naked cake look, but the babies that have these cakes are much happier!

Boise One Year Photos | Stranger Danger

Other things that I am seeing with one year sessions are things we are use to seeing for this age group. Some one year olds have or are developing stranger danger. If this something your baby is struggling with please let me know! There are a few gentle approaches we can do to make sure they warm up to me while still getting the photos you are wanting.

Boise one year olds are really the cutest babies ever. I feel so lucky any time someone asks me to take photos of their one year olds. It’s such an important milestone for you and them. It’s amazing to know they started off as a tiny newborn that needs you for everything and 12 months later they are becoming their own little person.
