Is there anything sweeter than sisters? I personally think sisters are adorable. Especially when one is a newborn. Being able to capture these sweet newborn and sister pictures for this Middleton family is such a joy. It is so much fun to see older siblings love and dote on their newborn babies during their session. Every child is different on how they handle the big transition to older sibling. I have seen the spectrum and nothing surprises me anymore. Some siblings hit their newborn, push them, and try to throw them off their lap. I personally feel that they are overwhelmed. It has nothing to do with liking their newborn baby or not liking them. That’s why we have so many different posing options. It helps everyone feel happy, comfortable, and we can get a great picture.

For this sister and newborn duo, we picked the pose where she way laying on her tummy. Sister wanted to hold and love on her newborn, but she wasn’t quite old enough to support her newborn sister on her own. Older sister also has a flexibly issue and couldn’t sit unsupported with a straight back for very long. We did what anyone would do! We were flexible and found something that should her love for her new sister and also made her feel most comfortable.

Making the most of your newborn session

Newborn sessions don’t always go exactly as we might want or think they should. Sometimes your newborn will have an awake period. Guess what? Awake periods are okay and rarely last a long period of time. This also gives us an opportunity to get some really cute pictures of your newborn and their darling expressions. There may be some poses that your newborn doesn’t love. And that is normal and okay too. Typically, I will revisit the pose later in the session, and other times I will try a modified version. This helps us to get the pose you want and also make sure your newborn is happy.

Being able to capture theses sweet newborns in Idaho is an absolute dream job.
